He's definitely a nectar eater, but I don't think he's a humming bird. I guess I'll have to fork out the cash for that bird guide to find out....

Guys, what a great bird. These birds with the 'decurved' beaks are sunbirds, and almost all species of sunbirds have really brilliant plummage. I think this one looks like a Variable, or Yellowbellied, Sunbird. The book says the broad purple band on its chest is the distinct characteristic, along with the yellow tummy.
